Narendra Dabholkar
Anti-superstition activist and social reformer from Maharashtra. Founder of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS). Assassinated in 2013.
Govind Pansare
Leftist thinker, writer, and social activist. Fought strongly against cultural fascism. Assassinated in 2015.
M.M. Kalburgi
Renowned Kannada scholar, researcher, and rationalist. Opposed idol worship and superstition. Assassinated in 2015.
H. Farook
Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) member and rationalist activist in Coimbatore. Killed in March 2017 for propagating rationalism and anti-religious posts.
Gauri Lankesh
Journalist and activist. Took a strong stand against communalism and the caste system. Assassinated in Bengaluru in 2017.
Condemnation of Violence
